Mary Christine Music: Music

1) "Bumps on A Log"

(Mary Christine)

A song about my favorite White Pine tree in my backyard when I was a kid.

Key of G

There it was, lookin down at me, a little brown bump, high upon a tree. It whispered a word,

sounded like my name, I didn't want to answer, but I heard it just the same.

The tree asked me " Do you know who you are?" Do you know how to dance ?

Or wish upon a star? So I asked the tree, Who should I be? Why should I dance?

And what's the world to me. He said

CHORUS: We're all little bumps sitting on a log, living with the lizards and the toads and the frogs. I can't change the world you see, I might be smart but I'm only a tree.

I thought to myself, what did he mean? And did this tree really talk to me?

I am not a bump, I am not a tree! I don't like lizards and they don't like me.

But they all have a smile and I can see, what this tree was trying to say to me.

He whispered my name and he made me smile. Oh, he's been a friend of mine for a long while.  Because

CHORUS

I want to be rich, I want to be free. I want to co-exist in the ecology.

So follow me and talk to a log, say hello to the lizards and the toads and the frogs.

We're all living here, one big family. I heard it one day while I listened to a tree.

I've made up my mind, not to be blind. I believe in the tree and I believe in me.  Oh yeah

CHORUS

Oh I can't change the world you see, I might be smart but I'm only a tree.
