"Wholesome and spiritual with a purpose. These songs are organic and clean like the ukulele itself." Sound director Chocolate Church, Bath, Maine, lead guitarist.

Ann Elisa Moore

"I love the whole collection... Thank you so much... I'm enjoying getting to know Love Is Strong alot. My favorites are ... "Country Fair" and "Little Mama, and "Texas Tonight," but, truly, I love the whole collection and the way you bounce from sound to sound among the songs. Your voice gets stronger and stronger as the years go by; it's really been a joy and privilege to watch and hear. Maine writer, poet, artist, publisher.

DEMOLITION: Local CD Reviews MARY UKELADY, LOVE IS STRONG ... "Rife with upbeat, simply performed songs and joyous, hopeful imagery, Maine’s Mary “Ukelady” Hargreaves’ new full-length disc is a RARITY IN POP MUSIC, ... it’s an album you can hand to someone under 16 or over 65 and know there’s nothing on it that’s the least bit offensive, dour, or pretentious. In fact, many of the songs on 'Love Is Strong' could be considered an antidote to the cynicism of our troubled times, depending on your musical tastes. _____ In that light, we’d pick this disc as suitable for seniors, kids, or those into roots or folk music. _____

Mary Ukelady, THE ULTIMATE FREE SPIRIT, expresses hope, joy, love, and happiness on virtually every song included among this even dozen, especially on the title track, “Better Days,” and the whimsical album closer “Bumps On A Log.” * * * EXPERTLY RECORDED AT BATH'S BROWN DOG STUDIO, THE ALBUM ALSO FEATURES THE CREAM OF THAT AREA'S ROOTS MUSICIANS * * * including guitarist and keyboardist Earl Bigelow, bassist David Kent (who frequently performs with Ukelady), drummer Hal Ahlers, horn player Scott Davis, fiddler Jim Tolles, and vocalists Briana Bigelow and Isabelle Wilson. _____ We struggled to encapsulate Ukelady’s point of view, so we’ll let this statement from the liner notes suffice: “I won’t forget the laughter, the woodstove, stories, friendships, and the wonderful artists whose individual talents seems to bond with my musical endeavor. And that is … to help make the world a better place.” – Syl Nathan, Good Times Magazine /ME. N.H. Oct.17, 2006

"Calling all little kids, medium kids, older kids and anyone in the mood for some spirited fun brought to you by our very own Mary Ukelady. I saw Mary at the Old Port Festival a couple of years ago and assure you, she’s a charming performer whose best friend is her ukulele; that’s for sure. Playing guitar as well as her ukulele, Mary sings songs for all ages and recently released the children’s cd Little Pony Express. 'In these hills there’s no confusion or illusions or fancy frills. In these hills I have my good times, I’ve had some hard times and I live here still,' sings Mary, strumming her ukulele as the occasional slide whistle chimes in. Little Pony Express features 12 songs recorded between 2004 and 2007 and it’s a cd that will make you smile, sing along and truly appreciate how lively the ukulele is, at least when played by Mary Ukelady... Pick up Little Pony Express at Bull Moose in Portland, Brunswick, and Lewiston, Books N Things in Norway, and The Maine Bookhouse in Norway." - by Aimsel L. Ponti, Journalist. March 20, 2008
